Rod’s career spans over 28 years and includes work as a radio sports/news reporter, anchor and talk show host, magazine editor and freelance writer. He served as editor in chief of Houston’s Health & Fitness Sports Magazine for more than 10 years and is now a full time freelance journalist.
Rod specializes in web content writing and editing, article writing, press releases and media consulting for large and small firms. His primary areas of interest are automotive, sports, fitness, health & wellness, music and recreation.
A graduate of the University of North Texas, Rod began his career as a radio news and sports reporter in 1985. Following broadcast journalism stops at several Texas radio stations, Evans returned to Houston in 1989 to serve as news director at KSEV AM 700. He went on to work at Houston radio stations KPRC, KNUZ and KQUE prior to his tenure at Health & Fitness Sports Magazine.
Rod has published articles in numerous publications over the years, including the Houston Chronicle, City Fitness and the Houston Press, as well as national magazines, including Oxygen, Fit, Iron Man and Bespoke Magazine. He is also a regular contributor to Autoweek magazine and a blogger for Galveston.com. Rod recently launched Houstoncarscene.com, a website devoted to the auto enthusiast culture in Houston.
